‘The 63’ Club Notes 10/07/23

The-63-v2

The Termon senior reserve men maintained their fantastic winning form by taking their tenth victory on the bounce on Saturday evening, beating Glenswilly 2-6 to 1-6. Mark Gallagher’s late goal sealed the win while Oisin Harkin netted the other goal from the penalty spot.

The senior thirds men also won at the weekend beating Naomh Brid by a point 2-8 to 0-13. Mark Gallagher was on form again, the confident forward scored both goals for Eddie Harkin’s chargers on Sunday.

The senior men lost the derby to Glenswilly 1-21 to 3-9. The game itself was highly entertaining with the Termon men putting in a good performance only for the Glen to pull away in the closing ten minutes. Steve McElwaine was sharp up top scoring two of the goals while Enda McCormick returned to the seniors after a lengthy lay off and impressed, and Gary McGettigan stepped up to the first team and showed well. Termon scorers – Steve McElwaine 2-1, Daire McDaid 1-2, Enda McCormick 0-2, Gary McGettigan, Cian McMenamin, Anthony Grant and Paul Mallons 0-1 each. Termon Team – Darragh Russell; Cormac Gallagher, Jamie Gallagher, Emmett McGettigan;
Cian McMenamin, Ryan Shields, Caolan Gallagher: Aaron Reid, Luke McGarvey; Gary McGettigan, Enda McCormick, Ricky Gallagher; Steve McElwaine, Daire McDaid, Conor Cassidy.
Subs – Anthony Grant, Sean O’Donnell, Bobby McGettigan and Paul Mallons.

Hard luck to our minor men who lost 0-11 to 0-7 to league champions Buncrana on Monday evening. Serious team performance as Termon lead 0-4 to 0-3 at half time and should have  been further ahead but missed two goal chances. Buncrana put in a big push in the second half but Termon  battled and competed well. Caolan McDaid’s side missed two further goal chances in the second half while Michael Boyle made vital blocks at the other end. Buncrana pulled away in the last five minutes to win by four. Despite the defeat, a good overall team performance and something to build on.

Good luck to the Termon ladies – Emer, Nicole, Geraldine, Ciara and Jodie who represent the county in the LGFA All Ireland quarter final on Sunday against Dublin in Ballybofey. Also well done to Fionn McGrenra and Cormac Cassidy who featured for the Donegal u15 and u16 sides over the weekend against Dublin and Monaghan.
