‘The 63’ Club Notes – 27/06/23

The-63-v2

It was a mixed afternoon for our senior teams in Inishowen on Sunday. The Termon reserves produced a strong second half display to come away from Buncrana with a 1-16 to 1-12 win and stay unbeaten this season. Finding themselves a point down at half time it took the full 20 players to get over a quality Buncrana side. The introduction of Patrick McDaid and Enda McCormick with 15 minutes to go propelled the team to victory. McCormick finished with 3 points while Mark Gallagher did great work to evade defenders to get the crucial goal in the first half to keep Termon in the game. There were also strong performances from Jack O’ Neill, Steve McDaid and Cormac Brady helping get Termon over the line.

Unfortunately the seniors couldn’t get past an inspired Buncrana with their county player Caolan McGonagle starring for the hosts. His goal in the second half proved to be the decisive score in their 1-12 to 0-13 win. Termon trailed by just a point at the break but entering the closing ten minutes were six down. The group rallied with the introduction of Caolan Gallagher who scored two points but they couldn’t find that much needed goal that would have given them a result on the road. Cian McMenamin put in another solid performance while Steve McElwaine and Dara McDaid contributed seven points between them. Jack Alcorn, Jamie Grant and Aaron Ried also chipped in with scores. Buncrana now move ahead of Termon into third in the Division 2 standings. Termon Team : Darragh Russell; Conor Cassidy, Jamie Grant, Cormac Gallagher; Ricky Gallagher, Ryan Shields, Barry McGeehin; Kevin McGettigan, Luke McGarvey; Dara McDaid, Cian McMenamin, Jack Alcorn; Aaron Reid, Steve McElwaine, Anthony Grant. Subs – Evan Coleman for Jack Alcorn, Caolan Gallagher for Evan Coleman.

Good luck to our senior ladies county players this weekend in the championship against the defending All Ireland Champions Meath. Emer Gallagher, Nicole McLaughlin, Ciara McGarvey, Jodie McFadden and Geraldine McLaughlin.
